El Paso Young Democrats to host prayer vigil for the people of Ukraine

El Paso —In response to the egregious invasion of the Ukraine by the Russian Government, the El Paso Young Democrats (EPYD) offered the following:

" To be an El Pasoan is to love one and other, to always stand up for what is right, to stand up for those who are being attacked, and as El Pasoans we all know and understand how hate can impact our community. If I can say one thing to the people of the Ukraine it is that we hear you, the world hears you, and we will not stop until the Russian government is held accountable for the invasion of your country and its people."

- Vice President Wesley Lawrence

The El Paso Young Democrats and other Democratic Organizations are holding a prayer vigil at 6:30 PM, Sunday, February 27th, 2022 at Tom Lea Park.

The vigil will support the people of Ukraine as they prepare for an invasion by the Russian Government. Wesley Lawrence, Vice President of the El Paso Young Democrats says “We stand in solidarity with the People of Ukraine and firmly express our support of the Ukrainian community in the El Paso area. I am fully in support of the United States and its allies who have rallied against the aggression and conflict exhibited by Russia. Please join us in prayer that democracy and peace prevail.” Their goal is to show that El Paso and its people stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

The El Paso Young Democrats are the official chapter of the Texas Young Democrats — one of the largest partisan youth organizations in the nation — in the Borderland.
